Wearing cute PJs/nightgowns
Watching the new season of Bridgerton inspired this idea. The nightgowns they wear are so beautiful. I sleep in oversized dad shirts that I got at the thrift store for 2 dollars. I think I’d feel nice to feel put together and comfortable at night. It’s a small confidence boost when you get a glimpse of yourself. It just looks so girly, and I want to get into that more this year. The game plan is that for every matching set or nightgown, I will get rid of one dad shirt. I want the process to be slow and digestible. I also want to be more mindful this year. So running out and buying 300 dollars worth of nightwear is not at all what I recommend. I believe that taking the time to curate this collection is a huge part of the experience. The small pleasure of deciding which one to wear that night, dancing to music, and learning what you enjoy!

Be more creative
There are so many forms of creativity: painting, jewelry making, fashion, journaling, etc. Those are just a few off the top of my head. It’s a great way to relieve stress. I also think it’s really cool to produce something of your own. It’s also a way to look a bit more unique in a world full of fast fashion and micro trends. I want to focus on watercolor painting and crocheting this year. I think watercolor is fun and forgiving. Sometimes I find it hard to be creative, because you can’t be afraid of screwing up. It takes honesty and knowing who you are, and then you can bring that to paper. You truly have to make the art for yourself.
Going to cafes
One of my personal goals this year is to push myself and get out of my comfort zone. There are many days when I find myself not wanting to get out of bed or leave my house. I know this is holding back my progress in getting over my anxious thoughts. So I will go to cute cafes to read, write, and people-watch. I may be the nosiest person on the planet, so I enjoy just being in the scene. Maybe try to make a friend or just improve my social skills. I also really enjoy tea and coffee, so that’s an obvious plus.
Say yes more often
Again, getting out of my comfort zone, enjoying a bit more spontaneity. Oftentimes, we hold ourselves back from fun or important opportunities. I have done both numerous times. We can never really know when we will or won’t enjoy ourselves, so stop guessing and actually see about it. Plus, experiences make for great stories to tell later.
Skincare
Up until November, I did not have much of a routine. In fact, the reason for wanting a better routine was my desire for longer-lasting makeup. I can say I have seen improvements both in how my makeup looks and how it wears. I’ve also felt prettier and more comfortable with no makeup since I started. I think I feel that way because, of course, yes, my skin is looking better. It’s hard to explain, but I think when you sit and do your skincare, you sit with yourself at your purest form and appreciate it. The act of doing skincare is very therapeutic, a great way to start or wind down. Since the beginning of the year, I have implemented a 1-hour no-screentime rule (music doesn’t count). So while I do my skincare, I drink my green tea and enjoy the calmness. I also think it’s a great time to reflect on your day. Also, I have just added a new expense to my list. It’s crazy how fast makeup and skincare can get expensive. But I am cheap, so right now I’m using a lot of byoma because it’s affordable. So far I’m enjoying the brand, and it didn’t make me breakout so yay. P.S. Imagine how cute you would feel doing ur skincare in a cute nightgown. #likeamovie
Going on walks
If you’ve ever dealt with depression or anxiety, you will be told that exercise is important and helpful. I do find that it makes me feel more relieved. Lately, I have found myself seeking it out after a stressful moment or day. It doesn’t have to be a huge commitment or an hour long. Walking is perfectly fine! I love walking and observing the world with music blasting in my ears. Especially when the sun is out! It’s an excuse to get yourself dressed and makes you feel productive. I think it also improves self-image because you changed your routine, you got up. It’s a small but effective step.
Now I haven’t exactly started on any of these yet, but I plan to start. I will update if you want. Let me know if you try any of these or if you have ideas i’d love to hear them! Thank you for reading!
